Chanelle and Pat came to New Zealand for adventure. Visiting from Winnipeg in Canada I immediately thought of mountains and lakes but they assured me that it isn’t always the case, Winnipeg is flat and full of fields. So, to give them the goods we adventured up to the Crowne range, New Zealand’s highest road, the perfect place for a playful and fun couples shoot.
Pat, a big Lord of the Rings fan had wanted to visit New Zealand for some time so when Chanelle got approved on three weeks leave they booked flights down under and headed straight to Queenstown.
I picked them up from their amazingly cute Airbnb, which we later went back to photograph. The sky was a little overcast but that just lent an epic moodiness to the scene. Chanelle came prepared, this gal knew how to photoshoot. She had a black Fedora and the cutest enamel mountain pin, she later told me she collects pins and has around 100 of them, buying pins that resonate with her & this was her first ever purchase.
The mountain pin reminded her to be adventurous, to get outside and breathe that mountain air and to be brave with her life. I knew we were in for an awesome shoot.
Right after getting engaged in 2015 they took their first trip to the Canadian Rockies, catching the mountain bug pretty early in their relationship. Chanelle lovingly referred to Pat as her ultimate adventure buddy, the guy who makes their everyday life her biggest adventure of all.
After all, they have been together since they were 17… how cute is that?
