On the Day:
Charmaine and Ty flew from Melbourne and were joined in Wanaka by friends and family from all over the world to celebrate their love for each other. They booked the Edgewater Resort as their venue, and I met them there for getting- ready photos. Ty and the boys got separate rooms from Charmaine and her bridal party. Since it was a mystery, the girls were speculating about what the boys were gonna wear. Ty had such great style and it definitely reflected in the sharp emerald suit that he wore that matched his groomsmen. We had photos with the boys and we went down to the lake as well as a small pond by Edgewater. I then went to the girls’ room, where they were busy getting their hair and makeup done and we did a“first-look” photo with Charmaine’s dad, where he saw her in her dress for the first time.
For their ceremony, we had an arch decorated with gorgeous flowers set up on the lawn, but unfortunately 4 minutes into the ceremony, it started to rain. That’s when we brought out our trusty clear umbrellas, but that didn’t suffice because unfortunately, the rain got heavier. Luckily, Edgewater resort had a reception area that opened into the lawn so we all ran inside for cover. When the rain stopped five minutes later, we quickly put the arch back up in front of the reception area while the guests stayed inside. After all that, they ended up being able to get married at 5:00 PM, which was great but we had to relocate their couple’s photos to the lakefront because their flight to Coromandel Peak got called off. The photos turned out fantastic anyway, with sparkling little raindrops adding a magically romantic feel.
At the reception, everybody couldn’t contain their joy and laughter from the hilarious speeches. All their family and friends that spoke were truly comic geniuses, which gave the event such a vibrant and full-of-life energy.
Congratulations to Charmaine and Ty!
