From Flatmates to Soulmates, and an Intimate Wedding in NZ

“Funny story… We were flatmates!”

Chantal and Mitchell have been living together for a while even before they started dating. Both of their mums knew each other, so when Mitchell was looking for a flatmate, Chantal’s mum unknowingly played cupid. They first bonded over Mitchell’s dog Koda, and Chantal loved his kindness and sense of humour. Over a series of weekend cafe dates and movies, these two fell in love. From being flatmates to ending up as each other’s soulmates, this couple proves that when fate lends a hand, you have to shake it. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll meet your forever love.

On the Day:

I first met Chantal and Mitchell at the adjoining Airbnbs they booked in central Wanaka, talk about convenience! I first went to Mitchell’s for some getting-ready photos with the boys, and I even got to meet his super cute little nieces! Then we went over to the girls where Chantal did a First Look with her granddad, who she is very close with. Her mum also gifted her jewellery which was really special before she set off in her granddad’s amazing old school car.

Together with their friends and family, the couple had a beautiful ceremony. It was a gorgeous day with clear skies and a slight breeze, and everyone was feeling the love radiating from the couple. We then went to Dublin Bay for photos with the bridal party and the super cool cars Chantal’s granddad brought. We didn’t stay for too long because we had to get back to catch a helicopter ride to Coromandel Peak for their couple’s photos. After popping champagne and capturing romantic moments, we headed back to the venue for the reception which was catered by Chef Brendan Catering. 

Everyone had a great time with the delicious food and funny but heartfelt speeches. We ended the day with a little bit of cake and a lot of dancing.
