On the Day:
Queenstown had the pleasure of being the chosen elopement spot for Kerry and Byron. Both originally from South Africa, this beautiful couple got ready for their elopement at Gibbston Valley Spa and Lodge.
Kerry skyped her parents while Byron enjoyed a tasty gin before their first look photo shoot. This is always a special and usually emotional moment when the couple first sees each other all dressed up and about to change from girlfriend/boyfriend status into husband/wife.
Kerry and Byron walked around the cottage on opposite sides and finally met in front. This moment always gets my heart going faster, watching them get closer and closer, seeing the anticipation on their faces, watching as the nerves drop away and pure joy washes over them at the sight of their perfect partner.
We then flew up to a remote mountain top location to make the most of the stunning Queenstown views. The spot we chose was sheltered from the wind and was the perfect place for showcasing the snowy mountains in the background. The sleek grey helicopter stood silently in the background as Andrew Bell officiated the ceremony and the fresh spring air rustled Kerry’s beautiful white dress. As I stood on the mountainside taking photos of the smiling couple I noticed how the pale pink roses in Kerry’s bouquet perfectly complemented the scene.
We jumped back in the helicopter and headed for Jack’s Point next. Kerry and Byron had a picnic set up in the long golden grass under the Remarkable mountains and it was much warmer down here. I took photos of them as the sun turned the landscape golden and started to set on their elopement.
The day goes by so quickly, I am so glad I could capture it for you, it is definitely one you will be dreaming about for years to come.
Congratulations again Kerry and Byron, I am so happy for you.
