Lochnagar + Tyndall Glacier Elopement in Queenstown
I met Mel and Scott at a stunning riverside AirBnB near the Hilton hotel that looked out at the Kawarau River and the Remarkables mountains. The hair and makeup station was set up upstairs for Mel while Scott was downstairs getting dressed.
There were so many lovely touches such as named coat hangers and embossed gift boxes. They even had the name of their ceremony and helicopter locations on them.
Mel had a purse with ‘wifey’ written on it and she had laid out her jewellery, vow books, and shoes ready to be photographed on my arrival.
To include the couple’s love of felines, (they are proud parents to several rag-doll cats) Mel’s nails were painted like little cats.
I really appreciated her attention to detail which made their elopement so unique and special.
Another beautiful idea they had was that they had each brought thoughtful gifts for each other and opened them separately while getting ready.
When everyone was ready, we led Scott out onto the balcony where he awaited Mel’s entrance for their first look photo.
Next, we were off to the helipad where we met their celebrant, Andrew Bell, and were whisked over unbelievable landscapes to end up at Lochnagar, the location for their ceremony. There were a few sandflies but that couldn’t put a damper on our mood at being at such a stunning wilderness location.
Our next stop was to land atop a snowy Tyndall Glacier for some fun in the snow before heading to the Rees Valley Lookout for a champagne toast and for an extra special added touch of our heli taking off and flying back overhead so my videographer Tom and I could capture it on film.
Congratulations Mel and Scott, after seeing the love and care you put into everything you do, I know your marriage will be as epic as your wedding. I wish you two a lifetime of happiness together.
