Fiona and Gideon are from Jakarta, Indonesia. They travelled to Queenstown with Gideon’s family on vacation and decided it was the perfect opportunity to get those all important pre-wedding photos. The day we met it was absolutely pouring with rain and, as expected, Fiona & Gideon were nervous that the weather was too awful for a photo shoot.
I learnt long ago not to let a little weather stress me out and assured them that some of my all time favourite images have been taken in the rain and snow. New Zealand didn’t get its name as “The land of the long white cloud” for nothing, and this day we were treated to some crazy atmospheric conditions. I mean just look at those clouds.
Fiona & Gideon meet at high school (Gideon may have had a small crush on Fi at that time) but it wasn’t until they were both back home on Uni holidays during studying abroad that they reconnected. No one else from school seemed to be in town at the time so they decided to hang out and the rest is history.
Gideon currently owns a property management company with his family while Fi is a cat food chef, (even the guy at customs had to stop her to explain that one 😉 But their dream is to buy some land and start a farm as Fiona just loves animals, especially dogs.
We had such a blast on this shoot and actually extended it to include another two hours in Wanaka and man were we glad we did, because it’s currently lupin season and we were able to capture some beautiful photos by Lake Wanaka.
