Angie + Mikel Earnslaw Burn Elopement
I had the pleasure of doing a couples shoot for Angie and Mikel last year so it was amazing to see them again when they returned to Queenstown for their elopement.
Angie, originally from Florida, and Mikel, from Ireland, had planned their dream wedding in Spain but Covid stepped in and decided that New Zealand was a much better wedding spot and so they flew from their home in Auckland down to Queenstown to elope instead.
They got ready with a few close friends in a beautiful AirBnB by the lakefront where I did their first look and getting ready photos. Angie’s family were on a video call with her that morning and Mikels family had delivered thoughtful letters for him to read before the ceremony.
Our first stop was to the airport so we could fly by helicopter to Cecil Peak for photos, the insanely stunning views of Queenstown New Zealand stretched out below us as we flew to our epic mountain destination. The weather was perfect and golden light shone through the grassy tussocks as we walked along the mountain ledge overlooking the vast expanse of Lake Wakatipu.
Our next stop was to Earnslaw Burn. The sun joined us and Angie and Mikel looked as amazing as the location as they posed and laughed surrounded by towering mountains and snow.
When we landed back in Queenstown we headed to the lakefront at Kelvin Heights for the ceremony where we met Andrew Bell, their celebrant. Their close friends looked gorgeous all dressed in shades of pink against the backdrop of mountains and the turquoise blue waters of Lake Wakatipu.
We live streamed the ceremony for Angie and Mikels families which made it even more intimate and special.
After the ceremony we all went to Stoneridge for drinks and I waved goodbye as they stayed on for lunch and further celebrations after a truly magical day.
