An intimate Wedding at Moke Lake Edwin + Simone
Edwin and Simone had planned an overseas wedding in Malaysia but, of course, covid stepped in and persuaded them to elope in New Zealand instead. They flew to Queenstown for a small ceremony with immediate family only. Unfortunately Edwins brother and father live overseas so they couldn’t be there in person but thankfully technology made it so that we could include them in the day.
I met the beautiful couple at their stunning Glenfiddich lodge AirBnB in Jacks Point where we did getting ready and candid shots. Edwins brother and father joined us on the big screen tv in the lounge and it was so special to be able to include them in the family photos that way.
I love seeing the personalised touches that couples have at their elopements and I was blown away by Edwins extremely talented sister when I saw that she had made and decorated a flawless white wedding cake complete with white roses. She also decorated the table with delicate foliage for their private family dinner afterward.
When it was time for the ceremony we all headed up to Moke Lake where Edwin and Simone were to say their ‘I do’s surrounded by family and the mountains. Philippa Thomas, their celebrant, was waiting for us at the gorgeous spot that they had chosen. They had hired white chairs for their guests and they stood out beautifully in the epic landscape of Moke Lake.
After the ceremony, I took the newlyweds halfway up the Remarkables road for their couples shoot and we popped champagne. Couples shoots are always the fun part and we all laughed as the champagne exploded and went everywhere. Genuine moments of laughter like this are my absolute favourite and we got stunning photos.
My last stop for the day was back at Jacks Point for sunset photos before I left my new friends and headed home, excited to edit the photos of their special day and knowing that I would probably dream about that cake when I went to sleep!
Congratulations Edwin and Simone!
